In the Shift is Mick Blowfield’s blog on transforming business to meet the sustainability challenges of C21.
Mick is Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. He is a fellow at St Cross College, and has other fellow positions at the London Business School, the Institute for Science, Innovation and Society, and Middlesex University Business School.
His two main research areas are:
1. Understanding the conditions for accelerated transformational change in critical industries affecting climate change. He is conducting research with industries in SE Asia, southern Africa, Europe and the US, and also building multi-disciplinary networks to foster new models of business change.
2. The role of business in poverty alleviation and development. After working over three decades in more than twenty developing countries, he has published extensively on this theme, most recently for the United Nations as well as various academic journals.
Mick also teaches sustainability and corporate responsibility, as well as advising companies and governments on these issues. His recent book, “Corporate Responsibility: a critical introduction” (OUP 2008, co-authored with Alan Murray) is in its second print run.
